GENERAL INFORMATION
MISSION STATEMENT
Cochrane Minor Ball's mission is to provide fun, safe, educational and competitive baseball and softball to a maximum number of children in a coordinated fashion with Cochrane and surrounding communities in a cost effective manner while promoting a team environment.
Cochrane Minor Ball offers:
Developmental Ball to boys and girls from 5 to 8 years of age,
Baseball and Softball to boys and girls from 9 to 16 years of age,
Big League for baseball players age 17 to 18, and
Midget Softball for players 17 to 19 years of age.
The baseball league category is based on the player's age at May 1st of the year of play; Softball league category is based on the player's age at December 31st of the year of play. Registration occurs in February and March followed by player evaluation for baseball Little League levels. Player evaluations are conducted in early April to assess the player's skill level in order to place the player on a team appropriate to their age and ability. Team placement through evaluation provides the player with an environment where he/she can develop their skills and appreciation for the game.
The regular ball season runs from early May to the end of June. All Star teams will be formed for selected age groups. Following regular season playoffs, the All Star teams will participate in postseason tournaments and championships from early July through the August long weekend.
COCHRANE RAIN-OUT LINE 851-2552
The Town of Cochrane Recreation department maintains a Rain-Out Line for all outdoor sports fields in Cochrane. The line provides daily information on the availability of play on the ball diamonds, based on weather conditions. Information is updated by 4:00 p.m. on weekdays and by 9:00 a.m. on weekend days. Call to confirm if play is permitted on the ball diamonds after 1-2 two days of wet weather preceding game days or if rain is expected by game time.
